SEN Learning Support Assistant – Full‑Time (Academic Year)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist special school in Burgess Hill for the 2026/27 academic year. The role involves supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, both in the classroom and through one‑to‑one interventions, helping them achieve academic, social and emotional progress.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and moderate to severe learning difficulties.
• Encourage pupil engagement, independence and confidence during lessons and activities.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to deliver high‑quality care and education.
• Assist with the implementation of individual education plans and behavioural strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum six months’ experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs.
• Caring, patient and resilient attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Experience working with autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language or severe learning difficulties.
