SEN Learning Support Assistant – Hackney (Term Time)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports 11‑16‑year‑old students with a range of additional needs in a secondary school in Hackney. Working closely with teachers, the SENDCo and pastoral staff, you will help create an inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality 1:1 and small‑group support tailored to individual needs.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to suit diverse SEND profiles.
• Encourage student engagement, independence and confidence.
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour management when required.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Monitor progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote excellent attendance and positive behaviour throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Patient, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting young people.
• Experience in education, youth work, care, mentoring or similar support roles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, positive and flexible approach.
• Strong behaviour management abilities.
• Interest in SEND and inclusive education.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
