SEN Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant for a Primary PRU in Ferryhill. In this role you will help pupils manage emotions, support learning and address challenging behaviour, ensuring each child feels safe and valued.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pupils in regulating emotions and behaviour throughout the school day.
• Provide targeted learning support to meet individual educational needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to develop and implement behaviour management strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and incidents.
• Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Ability to set clear boundaries and build trust quickly.
• Resilient, with a calm demeanor in high‑pressure situations.
• Good sense of humour and willingness to roll up sleeves.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Required skills

• Relevant qualifications and training for SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning).
• Valid enhanced DBS check and subscription to the DBS Update Service.
