SEN Learning Support Assistant – Sep 2026

About the role

We are partnering with a mainstream secondary school in North Liverpool to recruit a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant for a September 2026 start. This temporary position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils with additional needs in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
• Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet individual learning requirements.
• Assist with behavioural and emotional regulation strategies.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised support plans.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning atmosphere.

Required profile

• Experience as a teaching assistant, youth support worker, care worker or similar role.
• Psychology graduates or candidates with relevant academic backgrounds.
• Strong communication, patience, empathy and resilience.
• Genuine interest in supporting young people with special educational needs.

Required skills

• Effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Organisational skills for adapting learning materials.
