SEN Learning Support Partner (1:1) – Trauma/ASC Support

About the role

This temporary full‑time position supports a primary‑school pupil in South Bristol whose needs arise from trauma and display autism spectrum characteristics. Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will help the child feel safe, regulate emotions and engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs.
• Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management using a trauma‑informed approach.
• Implement structured routines and personalised learning strategies.
• Build a trusting, safe relationship with the pupil.
• Support the child’s participation in classroom and extracurricular activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff.

Required profile

• Calm, patient and empathetic attitude.
• Understanding of trauma‑informed practice or willingness to learn.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building trusting relationships.
• Resilient and adaptable in a dynamic classroom environment.
