SEN Primary Teacher – KS1 (Autism) – North London

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEN Primary Teacher to join an Outstanding Ofsted‑rated special‑needs school in Islington, North London. You will lead a small KS1 class of approximately seven pupils with severe autism and complex learning difficulties, delivering a personalised curriculum that balances academic, sensory and social development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and deliver tailored learning programmes for a class of 3‑11‑year‑olds with severe learning difficulties.
• Implement whole‑class and small‑group activities, continuously assessing progress against individual learning goals.
• Collaborate closely with SEN Teaching Assistants and multi‑agency professionals (physiotherapy, OT, speech therapy, nursing) to provide holistic support.
• Design and deliver a sensory programme that integrates physical, emotional and academic needs.
• Maintain accurate records, contribute to individual education plans and communicate regularly with parents and external agencies.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (PGCE, GTP, B.Ed, QTLS, or overseas equivalent).
• Proven experience teaching pupils with autism, moderate or severe learning difficulties, or complex medical needs.
• Strong knowledge of the UK national curriculum and SEN statutory frameworks.
