SEN Primary Teaching Assistant – Support Children with Additional Needs

About the role

We are seeking a caring SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to join welcoming primary schools in Stockport. You will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and participate fully in school life.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group interventions for pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties and other SEND profiles.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers and the SENDCO to implement individualized support plans.
• Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum, developing social skills and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
• Monitor progress and report observations to teachers and parents.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people, either in a school setting or another educational environment.
• Patient, caring, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding standards.

Required skills

• Understanding of SEND terminology and basic strategies for autism, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties.
