SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant – South East London

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in South East London. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils with additional needs access learning, develop independence and achieve personal goals. This is a full‑time, temporary position starting in September 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil requirements.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour in the classroom.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and parents/carers.
• Contribute to pupil progress reviews and EHCP outcomes where appropriate.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional practice.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Genuine passion for inclusive education.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
