SEN Specialist Tutor – 1:1 Outreach (English & Maths)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for an experienced and compassionate SEN Specialist Tutor to provide one‑to‑one English and Maths tuition for young people with a wide range of additional needs in Havering and surrounding areas. The role is part‑time, delivering 10‑15 hours of tailored outreach sessions in the learner’s home or community setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver personalised 1:1 English and Maths lessons for learners with PMLD, complex, medical, ASD, SEMH or other barriers.
• Adapt teaching approaches to build trust, promote independence and boost confidence.
• Monitor and report progress in collaboration with Prospero Teaching’s support team.
• Ensure a safe learning environment in home or community locations.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, PGCE or equivalent.
• Strong experience supporting pupils with PMLD, complex or medical needs, ASD, SEMH or similar.
• Experience delivering English and Maths at an appropriate level.
• Minimum six months’ experience in a UK school or specialist setting.
• Up‑to‑date safeguarding training (desirable).
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
