SEN Support Worker – Special Needs Sixth Form

About the role

We are recruiting enthusiastic Support Workers for a brand-new Special Needs Sixth Form in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. You will work with young people aged 16‑19 who have learning difficulties, autism, mental health or physical disabilities, helping them build confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with their individual learning, care and independence goals.
• Follow personalised care and support plans.
• Teach essential life skills such as cooking, shopping, budgeting and independent living.
• Promote positive social interaction, confidence and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and the wider support team.

Required profile

• Experience in an SEN school, care home, supported living or similar setting.
• Background supporting people with learning difficulties, autism, mental health needs or physical disabilities.
• Patient, caring and proactive attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
• Reliability, flexibility and strong team ethic.
