SEN Teacher (Informal Teaching and Learning Group)

About the role

We are seeking a resilient and imaginative SEN Teacher to lead an Informal Teaching and Learning Group within a specialist inclusive setting in South Leeds. The role starts in September 2026 and focuses on delivering personalised, sensory‑rich learning experiences for children with complex communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a dedicated Informal Teaching and Learning Group, prioritising communication, independence, physical development and sensory processing.
• Design and implement sensory‑rich, non‑subject‑specific interventions aligned with each pupil’s EHCP targets.
• Manage and mentor Learning Support Assistants to ensure a cohesive, supportive classroom environment.
• Utilise play, exploration and responsive interaction techniques to engage non‑verbal or pre‑verbal learners.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent UK‑recognised teaching qualification.
• Proven experience planning and delivering SEN‑focused, sensory‑rich learning.
• Demonstrated ability to work with children who have autism, severe communication needs and complex learning difficulties.
