SEN Teacher (Primary ASD Base)

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to lead one of two classes within its Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) base. You will work with a mixed‑ability group of 5‑8 pupils, aged Reception to Year 6, delivering semi‑individualised learning plans using TEACCH principles.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess curriculum tailored to each child's needs.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants and the Inclusion Assistant Headteacher to ensure consistent support.
• Utilise the sensory room, soft‑play area, outdoor garden and therapy/quiet spaces to enhance learning.
• Maintain clear communication with mainstream teachers, parents and external professionals.
• Monitor progress and adjust learning plans in line with statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• Experience teaching primary pupils, either in mainstream or SEN settings.
• Confidence in behaviour management and a positive, upbeat attitude.
• Willingness to work within a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of TEACCH principles for autism education.
