SEN Teacher – Specialist School (Bristol)

About the role

This permanent position is based at Avonside School, a brand‑new specialist school in Bristol. As a SEN Teacher you will help shape the curriculum and culture of the school from its inception, delivering high‑quality, personalised learning for pupils with a range of additional and complex needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and adapt engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with diverse learning requirements.
• Develop, review and monitor schemes of learning and assessment across your curriculum area.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team—including therapists, Learning Support Assistants and families—to provide a holistic educational approach.
• Lead subject‑area development, sharing innovative teaching strategies with colleagues.
• Support colleagues through training and sharing best practice.
• Work with the Exams Officer to ensure accurate qualification entries and successful outcomes.
• Teach across a range of subjects when required to support the school’s overall curriculum delivery.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• Proven experience teaching in an educational setting.
• Ability to plan, deliver and adapt lessons for pupils with a wide range of learning needs.
• Passion for inclusive education and belief that every child deserves the chance to succeed.

What we offer

• Salary up to £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience, not pro‑rated).
• Full‑time, 40‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:00 pm.
• Permanent contract, term‑time only.
• Start date in October 2026.
