SEN Teacher – Specialist School (Liverpool)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming specialist school in Liverpool. This full‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to make a lasting impact on pupils with a range of additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets.
• Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external agencies.
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils' emotional wellbeing.
• Inspire confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching pupils with SEND in either a mainstream or specialist setting.
• Strong understanding of a range of additional needs and effective teaching strategies.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Required skills

• Experience teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH, MLD/SLD, SLCN, and complex learning needs.
• Ability to develop and deliver differentiated lessons.
• Collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
