SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Complex Needs) – Full‑time

About the role

A welcoming secondary school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a student with complex physical and medical needs. This full‑time position starts in September and offers the chance to make a genuine difference to a child's education and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Support the student with arrival, departure, and daily transitions.
• Assist with personal care, toileting, and feeding during lunch and break times.
• Supervise meals in a separate room due to severe allergies.
• Monitor the student’s wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals.
• Help the student access learning across the curriculum.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Confidence in providing personal care.
• Calm, nurturing, and professional approach.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Reliability and commitment to a full‑time role.
