SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for Complex Needs

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a child with complex special educational needs in a Liverpool primary school. The role runs full‑time (30 hours) during term time, starting in September on a short‑term fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 assistance to help the pupil access the curriculum.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to tailor support strategies.
• Support the child in regulating emotions and engaging positively with the classroom environment.
• Monitor progress and report observations to senior staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with complex SEN in a school or care setting.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Child Development).
• Genuine passion for inclusive education.
