SEN Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for Year 2

About the role
This position provides one‑to‑one support for a Year 2 pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in a welcoming primary school in Waltham Forest. The role focuses on helping the child access the curriculum, build confidence and reach their full potential during the morning sessions.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised one‑to‑one assistance to the designated pupil each morning.
- Adapt learning activities in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Encourage independence and support social and emotional development.
- Monitor progress and report observations to the teaching team.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a primary setting.
- Knowledge of, or experience working with, pupils on the autism spectrum is highly desirable.
- Calm, nurturing and positive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Genuine passion for helping children succeed.
