SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD Specialist (Primary School)

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Preston from September 2026. The role focuses on supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop social skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with ASD and other SEN needs.
• Assist pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and learning activities.
• Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour‑support strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to suit each pupil’s requirements.
• Promote an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.
• Record progress and give regular feedback to teachers.
• Collaborate with class teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children with ASD in a school or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of autism‑related learning, communication and behavioural needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient and proactive attitude.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
