SEN Teaching Assistant – Backwell (Full‑time)

About the role

We are supporting the launch of a new inclusive school for pupils aged 5‑19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and SEMH needs. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will work alongside the class teacher to create a safe, nurturing environment where each learner can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities and reinforce concepts taught by the teacher.
• Promote positive behaviour and adapt responses to individual needs.
• Assist with personal care tasks such as hygiene, dressing and eating when required.
• Encourage independence and personal development.
• Provide feedback on pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Help prepare resources and contribute to lesson planning and evaluation.

Required profile

• GCSE Maths and English (minimum Functional Skills Level 2).
• Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or willingness to work towards it).
• Commitment to putting the child first and treating each learner as an individual.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Competent ICT skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Required skills

• ICT proficiency.

What we offer

• Permanent, full‑time (40 hours per week) term‑time only contract.
• Salary £22,996 – £25,068 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications.
