SEN Teaching Assistant – Barnet Secondary School (Long‑Term)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Barnet. The role starts in September and offers a long‑term, full‑time placement supporting students with a variety of special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class and small‑group support for KS3 and KS4 pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, MLD, and SEMH.
• Deliver targeted interventions and promote student engagement and independence.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the school SENCO to tailor support plans.
• Monitor progress and adjust strategies to meet individual learning goals.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
• Patient, proactive, adaptable and committed to creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions for autism, ADHD, speech & language, MLD, and SEMH.
• Experience delivering small‑group and one‑to‑one support.
