SEN Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor

About the role

This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports two Year 5 pupils who need additional behavioural and emotional assistance to access the curriculum. Working within a supportive two‑form entry primary school in Hanwell, you will help build confidence, resilience and independence while maintaining high expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for two Year 5 pupils throughout the school day.
• Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement in learning.
• Implement consistent behaviour‑support strategies and intervention plans.
• Assist pupils in the classroom and during dedicated intervention sessions.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.
• Promote positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
• Monitor progress, record observations and give feedback to teaching staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs in a UK primary setting.
• Proven ability to work with children displaying challenging behaviour or needing emotional support.
• Strong professional boundaries while building rapport with pupils.
• Calm, patient, resilient and able to work as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to pupils’ academic and personal development.
