SEN Teaching Assistant – Full‑time 1:1 Support in Hounslow

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a secondary‑aged student with complex behavioural needs in a welcoming Hounslow secondary school. The role starts in September and runs for the full academic year, offering a stable, full‑time environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one support to help the student access the curriculum safely.
• Implement and monitor behaviour support strategies alongside the SENCo and pastoral team.
• Use de‑escalation and positive handling techniques to manage challenging behaviour.
• Collaborate with class teachers to promote engagement and learning.
• Maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Strong behaviour management skills and calmness under pressure.
• Resilience, patience and professional boundaries.
• Ability to work closely with school staff and families.
• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Required skills

• Accredited restraint or positive handling training (e.g., Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA).
• Knowledge of de‑escalation techniques.
• Understanding of SEN policies and procedures.
