SEN Teaching Assistant – Full‑time – Secondary

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our secondary special‑educational‑needs school in Barnet. You will work closely with teachers to support pupils with a wide range of learning, communication and behavioural needs, helping them achieve independence and confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Support students in line with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery and adapt resources for diverse needs.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support where required.
• Promote positive behaviour, social development and independence.
• Monitor and record progress, sharing observations with staff.
• Offer personal care assistance as needed.
• Prepare classroom resources and maintain a safe, organised environment.
• Participate in team meetings, training and school activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (highly desirable).
• Understanding of SEND strategies and educational support techniques.
• Patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, CACHE or equivalent (advantageous).
