SEN Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start in Middlesbrough

About the role

We are seeking compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join specialist schools and Pupil Referral Units in Middlesbrough. The role provides immediate start opportunities for candidates who can create a calm, structured environment for pupils with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Autism or PMLD in one‑to‑one or small‑group settings.
• Help manage behaviour, build trust and promote engagement in learning.
• Maintain a safe, structured classroom atmosphere that encourages student progress.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt activities and resources to individual needs.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Confidence supporting needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and challenging behaviours.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• SEN qualification or a care‑based qualification.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential) and references ready for clearance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN support strategies and behaviour management techniques.
