SEN Teaching Assistant – Immediate Start in Tower Hamlets

About the role

This full‑time position supports children and young people with autism and other complex learning needs in specialist schools across Tower Hamlets. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to deliver personalised learning experiences that help students thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group assistance to pupils with autism and other SEN, following their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Implement tailored strategies and interventions to promote engagement, communication and independence.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to monitor progress and adapt support as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student activities, behaviour and achievements.
• Ensure a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with students with autism or other special educational needs in a school or care setting.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to follow IEPs.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn new strategies.
• Current enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
