SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a nurturing and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Hemel Hempstead. You will provide tailored support to pupils with additional educational needs, helping them feel safe, confident, and fully engaged in their learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class and 1:1 support for pupils with ASD and other SEND requirements.
• Assist class teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils and support their emotional, social, and academic development.
• Encourage confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours throughout the school day.

Required profile

• A nurturing, patient, and reliable individual.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEN, preferably on a 1:1 basis.
• Experience working in education or a child‑support capacity.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible, adaptable, and committed to meeting individual pupil needs.
• Passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.
