SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with severe and complex needs in a specialist school located in the Knowsley area of Merseyside. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the personalised help they need to thrive in the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils during lessons.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation, classroom setup and material organisation.
• Develop and implement strategies tailored to each pupil’s SEN requirements.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCo and external professionals to monitor and discuss pupil progress.
• Support pupils during lunch, break times and other school activities as required.
• Report any concerns or incidents promptly to the SENCo.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school or similar educational setting (preferred).
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or already hold one).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Required skills

• Understanding of SEN principles and best practices (desirable).
• Ability to follow instructions and support classroom routines.
