SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

The role provides dedicated support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN) within Bristol schools. Working during school hours, the assistant helps both SEN and mainstream students to achieve academic progress and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group support to SEN pupils.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and managing behaviour.
• Promote social‑emotional development and inclusion of SEN pupils.
• Encourage independent learning and participation in school activities.
• Follow all school policies on safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour management.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have additional needs, preferably in an SEN setting.
• Early Years Practitioner Level 2 or higher, or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Good organisational and communication abilities.
• Availability to work 08:30‑15:30 on weekdays during term time.
