SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

Earlsdon Primary School is looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join its SEND team. The post provides tailored support so that children who might otherwise struggle can access education and achieve, helping them overcome barriers to learning. It is a part-time permanent position of 36.25 hours per week across five days (Monday to Friday) plus training days, paid between £26,427 and £27,274.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to students with SEND with their academic work, social interactions and emotional well-being
• Work with teachers to follow and implement strategies in each student's EHCP
• Assist in classroom activities and help students with SEND engage in them
• Promote independence by supporting students in developing organisation and problem-solving skills
• Monitor progress and give feedback to class teachers and other professionals
• Support learning in 1:1 or small group settings and assist with physical and personal care
• Facilitate social skills and modify classroom materials to make the curriculum more accessible
• Comply with child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection policies, and report concerns appropriately
• Take part in personal and professional development and support colleagues

Required profile

• A qualification in First Aid or willingness to train is essential
• Right to work in the UK; no sponsorship offered
• Enhanced DBS check, safeguarding and pre-employment clearances, and two satisfactory references
