SEN Teaching Assistant (KS3/KS4) – Full‑Time

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support KS3 and KS4 pupils at a specialist school in Chorley. You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to create a nurturing, structured environment where young people with additional needs can thrive academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide classroom support for KS3 and KS4 pupils with a range of SEN needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small‑group interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
• Support pupils in developing communication, independence and confidence.
• Assist with implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and external professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
• Understanding of needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
