SEN Teaching Assistant – Learning Mentor (Barnet)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a specialist school in Barnet. As a Learning Mentor you will work closely with teachers and therapists to help pupils aged 4‑15 achieve academic, social and emotional progress.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to deliver personalised learning plans.
• Encourage communication, independence and confidence in daily activities.
• Assist with classroom tasks, routines and the creation of an inclusive learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or learning difficulties is desirable.
• Patient, compassionate, adaptable and committed to helping every child reach their potential.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to apply).
