SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a mainstream primary setting. You will work closely with the lead teacher and the SEND coordinator to create an inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support tailored to each child’s needs.
• Assist the lead teacher in delivering lesson plans and adapting activities.
• Promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages self‑esteem and social interaction.
• Manage behaviour using established school strategies and encourage pupil responsibility.
• Monitor, record and report pupil progress in collaboration with the SENDco and teaching staff.
• Ensure pupil safety, including assistance with personal care or mobility when required.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in a UK school or a caring role, preferably with autism or complex learning needs.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs and a commitment to a full‑time, term‑time position.
