SEN Teaching Assistant – Outdoors Focused

About the role

We are seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant who loves the outdoors to support pupils of all ages in Bristol schools. The role is based on‑site during school hours and focuses on experiential, nature‑based learning while promoting emotional and mental well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons for pupils with special educational needs.
• Plan and lead outdoor activities that align with the curriculum and support holistic development.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support, adapting tasks to individual needs.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing insights with the teaching team.
• Promote sustainability, animal welfare, and environmental awareness during activities.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or adults with special needs.
• Genuine interest in outdoor education, nature, and creativity.
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy.
• Commitment to supporting whole‑person development, not just academic outcomes.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN strategies and inclusive practices.
• Ability to organise and supervise outdoor learning sessions.
