SEN Teaching Assistant (Part‑time, Temporary) – Blackpool

About the role

The school is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide practical, academic and pastoral support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working under the guidance of teachers, you will help students engage fully in classroom activities and progress towards their individual learning goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEND in and out of the classroom, delivering one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions as directed.
• Assist pupils in understanding instructions, completing tasks and staying engaged during lessons.
• Promote development of communication, social, emotional and independence skills.
• Apply positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm learning environment.
• Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other personalised support programmes.
• Observe and record pupil progress, sharing relevant information with teachers and the SENCO.
• Prepare classroom resources and maintain an organised, safe, welcoming space.
• Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, school trips and extracurricular activities.
• Provide personal care and mobility assistance where required, following training and school procedures.
