SEN Teaching Assistant – Permanent, Term Time

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Cranborne. The school supports students aged 11‑16 with autism and related needs, offering a blend of academic and therapeutic programmes. You will work in a vibrant, outdoor‑focused environment, helping pupils develop confidence, independence and life‑skills.
Key responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support.
- Support academic and vocational sessions, including outdoor learning, animal care, bushcraft and life‑skills activities.
- Promote safeguarding, student welfare and positive behaviour at all times.
- Help pupils achieve their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
- Record incidents, accidents and health‑and‑safety information accurately.
- Encourage participation in group activities and foster positive friendships.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic, child‑centred attitude with a genuine desire to make a difference.
- Confidence managing a range of behaviours, including challenging ones.
- Creativity, positivity and adaptability.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy and basic ICT skills.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) – desirable but not essential.

What we offer
- Permanent, full‑time contract (term‑time only).
- Salary £22,996 – £25,068 per year, dependent on experience.
