SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

About the role

We are looking for a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Worthing. You will support pupils with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for SEN pupils.
• Assist children in accessing classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
• Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and learning needs.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual support plans.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, preferably in a school or SEN setting.
• Patient, caring and adaptable attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
