SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

About the role

We are seeking a nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Hemel Hempstead. The role provides tailored one‑to‑one and classroom support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other additional learning needs, helping them feel safe, confident and fully engaged in their learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide classroom and 1:1 support for pupils with ASD and other SEND requirements.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence.
• Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour and academic progress throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Patient, caring and reliable.
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND, including one‑to‑one support.
• Experience working with children in an educational or similar setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexible, proactive and committed to supporting every child's development.
• Available to commute to Hemel Hempstead.
