SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Leeds)

About the role

A primary school in Leeds is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers and professionals to help students achieve their full potential in a supportive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑on‑one assistance to SEN pupils during lessons and activities.
• Support the teacher in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
• Assist students with daily routines, personal care and participation in school events.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other specialists to develop and review individual education plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents and stakeholders about student progress.
• Participate in professional development to enhance SEN expertise.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications and experience in SEN support, preferably with children with disabilities.
• Compassionate, patient and able to build trusting relationships with students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Understanding of school policies and procedures; experience in a school setting is a plus.
