SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Leigh)

About the role

We are partnering with a primary school in Leigh to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. The role is full‑time within the school’s SEN unit, running from September 2026 to July 2027, with the possibility of extension or a permanent offer.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex needs, including ADHD, autism and selective mutism.
• Implement behaviour management strategies and promote positive learning environments.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lesson plans.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to individual education plans.

Required profile

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience working with children who display challenging behaviour or have complex needs.
• Excellent communication skills and a calm, patient approach.
• Enhanced DBS clearance and the right to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Behaviour management techniques.
• Knowledge of strategies for supporting ADHD, autism and mutism.
