SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Mitcham)

About the role

This full‑time SEN Teaching Assistant position supports pupils with special educational needs in a welcoming primary school in Mitcham. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure each child receives personalised academic and emotional support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group assistance for pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, etc.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual requirements.
• Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Help create a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have SEN, either in a school or relevant setting.
• Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Proactive, reliable and committed to meeting individual needs.
