SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Newham)

About the role

This full‑time position is based in a welcoming primary school in Newham and starts in September. You will work as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant, providing tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help SEN pupils access the curriculum.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning strategies.
• Provide targeted interventions that promote social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Assist pupils in building confidence, independence and classroom engagement.

Required profile

• Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.
• Ability to support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs.
• Strong communication skills and a nurturing, patient approach.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN support strategies and behaviour management techniques.
