SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Plumstead)

About the role
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a child with mild additional needs in a specialist SEN class at a large mainstream primary school in Plumstead, Greenwich. This full‑time, long‑term position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the child's educational journey.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised one‑to‑one assistance to the designated pupil.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring the child’s Individualised Education Plan (IEP).
- Collaborate closely with the SENCO, teachers, and support staff to ensure cohesive support strategies.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment.
- Record progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents.
- Apply specialised strategies and interventions to support learning and development.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with children with high needs in an SEN setting.
- Strong knowledge of SEN best practices and interventions.
- Patience, empathy, and genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or a related field are highly desirable.
