SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Newham)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Newham, East London. The role starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to support pupils with a variety of special educational needs in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties and other SEN.
• Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver tailored interventions and help pupils access the curriculum.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour while building strong relationships with students.
• Monitor progress and contribute to the development and review of individual support plans.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, preferably in a school setting.
• Patient, resilient and committed to helping each student reach their potential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Degree or relevant qualifications desirable but not essential.
