SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Independent Day School

About the role

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist independent day school in Royston. You will support students aged 6‑19 with a range of additional learning needs, helping them build confidence, independence and essential life skills both in the classroom and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist learners across classroom, outdoor and community‑based activities.
• Support individual education and personal development goals.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
• Provide personal care and physical intervention when required, following training.
• Adapt approaches to meet diverse learner needs.

Required profile

• Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.

• Committed to helping every learner achieve their potential.
• Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Ability to follow safeguarding and health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Effective communication with students, staff and external partners.
• Basic first‑aid knowledge and physical intervention techniques (as trained).

• Competitive salary £22,996‑£25,068 per year, dependent on experience.
