SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Secondary School (Islington)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support secondary‑aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder at an Outstanding Ofsted‑rated specialist school in Islington. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and a multidisciplinary team to help pupils achieve academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Support students in classroom lessons and practical activities.
• Encourage communication, independence and confidence.
• Implement positive behaviour strategies and assist with emotional regulation.
• Build trusting relationships and provide personal care when required.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people with additional needs, preferably autism.
• Patience, resilience and a calm, empathetic approach.
• Ability to work as part of a supportive, inclusive team.
• Willingness to undertake training and develop a career in education.

Required skills

• Knowledge of positive behaviour management techniques.
• Understanding of autism‑related educational strategies.
