SEN Teaching Assistant – Speech, Language & Communication Needs

About the role

Join a supportive school environment as a SEN Teaching Assistant, helping students with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and autism reach their full potential. You will work within a Specialist Resource Provision, delivering targeted interventions and inclusive classroom support.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group intervention plans under the guidance of teachers and specialist therapists.
• Assist with the implementation of speech and language programmes as directed by qualified professionals.
• Record, track and report on student progress and achievement.
• Provide classroom support for students from the Specialist Resource Provision in mainstream settings.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have speech, language, communication needs or autism.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion policies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of evidence‑based speech and language support strategies.
• Ability to implement tailored intervention programmes.
• Strong record‑keeping and progress‑monitoring skills.
