About the role
We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Sunderland from September. The role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs on a one‑to‑one and small‑group basis, helping them achieve academic and social progress.
Key responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs during lessons and activities.
- Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement individualized strategies.
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence.
- Assist with classroom tasks and help create a positive learning environment.
- Support pupils socially and academically throughout the school day.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs.
- Positive, proactive attitude with the ability to stay calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with pupils, staff and parents.
- Willingness to engage in extracurricular activities, especially sports.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and right to work in the UK.
