SEN Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with ASD

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Lambeth. You will work closely with the SEN team to help pupils on the autism spectrum and those with complex needs access the curriculum, build confidence and thrive in a nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with ASD and additional needs.
• Assist with classroom activities, daily routines and personal care tasks such as toileting and feeding when required.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement personalised learning strategies.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages pupil engagement.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient attitude.
• Comfortable delivering personal care and supporting pupils with diverse needs.
• Strong communication and proactive approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder and related educational strategies.
• Ability to follow safeguarding and health‑care procedures.
