SEN Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with Complex Needs

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist setting in High Wycombe. You will work closely with pupils who have profound and complex needs, helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and build independence in a safe, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with profound and complex needs.
• Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting, and mobility support.
• Support communication using PECS, Makaton, visual aids and other methods.
• Implement individual education, care and EHCP plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and wider support staff.
• Encourage confidence, independence and life‑skill development.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN is preferred.
• Understanding of profound and complex needs (PMLD, ASD, physical disabilities).
• Patient, caring and empathetic approach.
• Comfortable supporting personal care needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, proactive and adaptable.
