SEN Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with SEMH Needs

About the role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in South West London, supporting pupils across both primary and secondary phases. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to help young people with additional needs, social‑emotional challenges and behavioural barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, engagement and behaviour support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Use de‑escalation strategies and proactive behaviour management techniques.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have additional needs or challenging behaviour (e.g., education, youth work, care, PRU).
• Strong behaviour management skills and resilience.
• Calm, empathetic and supportive approach.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Ability to commit full‑time from the next term.
